As the glaciers melt away, the freshwater that they hold flows into the ocean where it becomes salty and undrinkable. Of course glaciers will melt away naturally, but snow will continue to fall and replace the lost water. Recently though, the glaciers have been melting due to increased global warming and there is not enough snowfall to replace the lost water and we lose that water to the polluted ocean.
